As president of Visiant, Jamie Wells is focused on providing market-leading solutions and offering exceptional client delivery, while concentrating on growth, operational excellence and culture.
His years of experience in senior executive and healthcare roles, along with a history of delivering results via innovative solutions, make him well-suited for this role.
"We are operating in an exciting marketplace and will execute our growth strategy to position Visiant as a strong competitor in not only the Medicare Advantage market, but the Medicaid and Commercial ACA markets as well," he said.
Jamie's breadth of business development and information technology experience played an integral role in the creation of Visiant and its sister company, Tessellate, in January 2017. In his previous role as president of Data Driven Delivery Systems (now Tessellate), Wells was responsible for leveraging strategic opportunities to drive revenue growth and position the company as a trusted comprehensive solutions provider for health plans.
He also served as president of Verisk Health's revenue and quality intelligence division. While there, he improved operational efficiency, helped achieve an annual revenue growth of more than 50 percent, and contributed to a customer retention rate of 98 percent.
Michelle Billingsley is responsible for leading product engineering and strategic technology initiatives as Visiant's senior vice president and chief delivery officer.
In this role, Michelle provides direction for programs, projects and operations to either maintain or transform Visiant's technology platform. Her focus is on leveraging the company's core application platform to deliver clients innovative product solutions.
Prior to joining the Visiant team, Michelle led information technology operations as vice president and chief information officer for Blue Care Network, Michigan's largest HMO. She also held various leadership roles during her 14 years with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, leading operating platform implementations and migrations, data warehousing and analytics efforts, HIPAA compliance initiatives and more.
In 2016, Michelle received the National Management Association's Executive of the Year Award. Her approach to leadership is grounded in three key principles: a clear purpose, accountability and grit – which she defines as a combination of passion and perseverance.
In addition to her more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Michelle has held roles in consulting, higher education and manufacturing.
A proud native Detroiter, Michelle serves on the board for Michigan Council of Women in Technology, which supports women and girls in the industry. She also chairs the board of the Great Lakes chapter of Thrivent Financial, a nonprofit that aims to provide Christians with financial strategies.
She holds a Master of Education in instructional technology from Wayne State University and bachelor's degree in computer science from Western Michigan University.
Maria Calcaterra is a highly skilled healthcare compliance, process management and operations executive. She currently serves as a privacy official for Visiant.
As a certified professional compliance officer and HIPAA privacy and security expert, Maria oversees Visiant's privacy and compliance programs. She has more than 25 years of experience designing and managing risk controls to align with business objectives, regulatory requirements and risk tolerance.
Prior to joining the Visiant team, Maria served as chief compliance officer for Data Driven Delivery Systems. She previously held the position of chief compliance officer and vice president of quality for Verisk Health.
Maria has both domestic and international experience, having worked in India and Nepal. She also spent four years as the managing principal of an independent consulting firm in Lyon and Paris, France. While there, she established operations protocol and managed national accreditations for a startup that went on to become one of the most respected commercial electron microscopy labs in the country.
Maria is an accomplished cyclist, having won several Virginia state titles like Women's Road Race Champion and Masters Best All-Around Champion.
She earned a bachelor's degree in applied biology from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
As an operations strategist, Maryellen Ciccio is responsible for coordinating administration, reporting and communication activities for Visiant, as well as serving as the president's chief of staff. She joined the team with more than 20 years of experience in cross-functional redesign, product and methodology development, strategic planning and more.
Maryellen held various leadership roles during her 16 years with UnitedHealth Group. Most recently, as a chief of staff for the company's shared services operations, she supported the chief operating officer and a $3B budget covering provider, consumer, analytics and regulatory functions.
Previously, as UnitedHealthcare's director of portfolio management with the office of the CIO, Maryellen served as a leader on significant customer and operational implementations, helping align about $300M capital investments to further commercial, Medicare and Medicaid business strategies and plans.
In and out of the office, Maryellen is an avid supporter of social responsibility activities and contributing to sustaining healthy communities. She volunteers at CT Children's Medical Center and local organizations helping children and families in need.
Maryellen earned a master's certificate in program management from George Washington University in Washington D.C., and a bachelor's degree in education from Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
As Visiant's vice president of product and planning, Shankar Madhavan is responsible for product management, as well as short- and long-term strategy. He specializes in identifying market trends and unlocking value from unmet demands through corporate and product strategy.
Shankar previously served as the director of business development and innovation for the senior business division of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. While there, he built a business development and innovation team from the ground up, managed Medicare Advantage operating model improvements, and led a number of other innovative growth strategies. It's his experience balancing top-down strategic vision with on-the-ground reality that sets him apart as a pragmatic cross-functional team leader.
As a consultant for The Cambridge Group in Chicago, Shankar helped clients in diverse industries – from consumer packaged goods to financial services – develop and execute growth strategies.
Outside of work, Shankar enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and two sons. When they're biking or camping, they can be found tending to their highly productive garden.
Shankar holds a MBA from the University of Chicago and a master's degree in electrical engineering from Michigan State University.
As head of infrastructure and security for Visiant, Raj Nukala focuses on technology-driven business strategies and solutions, agile implementations and more.
By leveraging his IT and finance expertise, Raj is able to drive the company's overall technology strategy.
He previously served as vice president of Nexient, a software services partner, and assistant vice president of Jackson National Life insurance company.
Raj earned a MBA from Michigan State University and a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
With more than 20 years of experience in managed healthcare, computer systems and operations, Managing Director of Implementation Will Potts is focused on improving Visiant's software licensing and delivery, and business process outsourcing solutions for clients.
Previously, as vice president of quality and analytics for CatamaranRx (now OptumRx), Will was responsible for health plan management system and Stars reporting, and 1/1 readiness. In addition to leading the seamless migration of a large 5-star plan to CatamaranRx's RxClaim platform, Will's reporting initiatives drove significant improvements in data validation audit scores, Star ratings and 1/1 adjudication rates on behalf of clients.
Prior to joining CatamaranRx, Will served as Anthem's staff vice president for Medicare implementation and quality audit. He led the migration of Anthem's Medicare business into a single enrollment platform and supported Medicare operations throughout two pharmacy benefit management platform migrations.
In his 14 years with Independence Blue Cross in Philadelphia, Will supported multiple Medicare plans – which included more than 450,000 members – and led Medicare information technology initiatives to drive business value and ensure alignment with corporate goals.
An avid runner, Will's passion for healthcare extends beyond his work life. He also enjoys spending time at the beach with his wife and three kids.
Will holds a master's degree in computer science from Drexel University and a bachelor's degree in system engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
Chuck Weber has more than 20 years of experience in managed healthcare, computer systems and operations. As Visiant's interim chief operating officer, he manages the company's front- and back-office business process outsourcing solutions, leads training and documentation efforts and technical operations, among other responsibilities.
Chuck came to Visiant from WFC Consultants, which focused on operations, information systems, analytics and business process engineering in the healthcare space.
Previously, he served as chief operating officer for Alignment HealthCare, a population health management company based in Southern California. While there, Chuck was responsible for overseeing operations for the health plan and population health management divisions, as well as leading new market implementations.
His prior roles involved managing Medicare operations for a number of service centers nationwide, implementing new operating systems, leading data warehousing efforts and more.
In addition to volunteering at a local homeless shelter, Chuck stays active by coaching youth football, basketball and baseball teams.
He holds a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and a bachelor's degree from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota.
