Meet Our Leadership Team

As president of Visiant, Jamie Wells is focused on providing market-leading solutions and offering exceptional client delivery, while concentrating on growth, operational excellence and culture.

His years of experience in senior executive and healthcare roles, along with a history of delivering results via innovative solutions, make him well-suited for this role.

"We are operating in an exciting marketplace and will execute our growth strategy to position Visiant as a strong competitor in not only the Medicare Advantage market, but the Medicaid and Commercial ACA markets as well," he said.

Jamie's breadth of business development and information technology experience played an integral role in the creation of Visiant and its sister company, Tessellate, in January 2017. In his previous role as president of Data Driven Delivery Systems (now Tessellate), Wells was responsible for leveraging strategic opportunities to drive revenue growth and position the company as a trusted comprehensive solutions provider for health plans.

He also served as president of Verisk Health's revenue and quality intelligence division. While there, he improved operational efficiency, helped achieve an annual revenue growth of more than 50 percent, and contributed to a customer retention rate of 98 percent.

Maria Calcaterra is a highly skilled healthcare compliance, process management and operations executive. She currently serves as managing director of business administration for Visiant.

A certified professional compliance officer and HIPAA privacy and security expert, Maria has more than 25 years of experience designing and managing risk controls to align with business objectives, regulatory requirements and risk tolerance.

Prior to joining the Visiant team, she served as chief compliance officer for Data Driven Delivery Systems. She previously held the position of chief compliance officer and vice president of quality for Verisk Health.

Maria has both domestic and international experience, having worked in India and Nepal. She also spent four years as the managing principal of an independent consulting firm in Lyon and Paris, France. While there, she established operations protocol and managed national accreditations for a startup that went on to become one of the most respected commercial electron microscopy labs in the country.

Outside of work, Maria is an accomplished cyclist, having won several Virginia state titles like Women's Road Race Champion and Masters Best All-Around Champion.

She earned a bachelor's degree in applied biology from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

As the managing director of internal quality and controls for Visiant, Maryellen Ciccio is responsible for quality, reporting and performance strategy development, ensuring business operational controls perform in accordance with various policies, procedures and contractual obligations. Her primary focus is making sure controls are in place to measure, evaluate and improve the company’s products, services and operations.

Having held various leadership roles during her 16 years with UnitedHealth Group, Maryellen refined her experience in product development, cross-functional process redesign and improvements, system conversions, methodology development, and federal, state and county regulatory compliance. Most recently, she served as chief of staff for the company's shared services operations, supporting the chief operating officer and a $3B budget covering provider, consumer, analytics and regulatory functions. She also holds healthcare intelligence and strategic planning practice for commercial, individual, Medicare and Medicaid products.

In and out of the office, Maryellen is an avid supporter of social responsibility activities and contributing to sustaining healthy communities. She volunteers at CT Children's Medical Center and local organizations helping children and families in need.

Maryellen earned a master's certificate in program management from George Washington University in Washington D.C., and a bachelor's degree in education from Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

As Visiant's chief operating officer, Rob Galan manages the company's front- and back-office business process outsourcing solutions, technical operations, and operations management services.

Prior to joining the Visiant team, Rob served as a vice president of operations within Optum, managing call and claim centers, utilization management, eligibility, training and quality. In addition to launching a concierge-focused service model, he was a founding member of OptumCare, a division focused on helping healthcare providers deliver quality care via integrated delivery networks.

Previously, as director of operations for Massachusetts-based insurance company Tufts Health Plans, Rob oversaw call and claim centers, as well as training and quality. He held various operations management roles in his seven years at Oxford Health Plans, now part of United Healthcare. While there, Rob ran call and claim centers, worked to integrate acquisitions and launch satellite offices in New York, Connecticut and Florida.

Throughout his more than 20 years in the healthcare industry, Rob has earned a number of Stevie Awards for excellence in sales and customer service.

When he's not working, Rob enjoys spending time with his kids – attending their softball, baseball and basketball games. He serves on several local organizations' boards of directors for youth programs and veteran needs. To honor veterans and show his appreciation for their sacrifices, Rob participates in local fundraisers and assists with facility improvements.

Rob earned a bachelor's degree in finance and international business from Fairfield University.

As head of infrastructure and security for Visiant, Raj Nukala focuses on technology-driven business strategies and solutions, agile implementations and more.

By leveraging his IT and finance expertise, Raj is able to drive the company's overall technology strategy.

He previously served as vice president of Nexient, a software services partner, and assistant vice president of Jackson National Life insurance company.

Raj earned a MBA from Michigan State University and a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

With more than 20 years of experience in managed healthcare, computer systems and operations, Managing Director of Implementation Will Potts is focused on improving Visiant's software licensing and delivery, and business process outsourcing solutions for clients.

Previously, as vice president of quality and analytics for CatamaranRx (now OptumRx), Will was responsible for health plan management system and Stars reporting, and 1/1 readiness. In addition to leading the seamless migration of a large 5-star plan to CatamaranRx's RxClaim platform, Will's reporting initiatives drove significant improvements in data validation audit scores, Star ratings and 1/1 adjudication rates on behalf of clients.

Prior to joining CatamaranRx, Will served as Anthem's staff vice president for Medicare implementation and quality audit. He led the migration of Anthem's Medicare business into a single enrollment platform and supported Medicare operations throughout two pharmacy benefit management platform migrations.

In his 14 years with Independence Blue Cross in Philadelphia, Will supported multiple Medicare plans – which included more than 450,000 members – and led Medicare information technology initiatives to drive business value and ensure alignment with corporate goals.

An avid runner, Will's passion for healthcare extends beyond his work life. He also enjoys spending time at the beach with his wife and three kids.

Will holds a master's degree in computer science from Drexel University and a bachelor's degree in system engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
